ROME, ITALY: The Korean actor Song Joong-ki just welcomed a baby boy with his British wife Katy Louise Saunders. The two actors got married back in January and the ‘Vincenzo’ star also announced the pregnancy of his wife.
Song shared an extended letter on his fancafe addressed to all his fans to talk about the birth of his child. The actor shared other work-related and personal life updates in the letter as well.
Song Joong-ki and Katy Saunders’ doubled good news
On January 30, 2023, Song’s agency, HighZium Studio, reported that the actor will be tying the knot with his girlfriend Saunders. Song had confirmed his relationship with the actress last December. The same report also revealed that the couple was expecting a child.
The actors were later spotted in Rome, which is reportedly Saunders’ hometown. It was one of their few appearances together and also one of the rare occasions where Saunders revealed her baby bump. Song Joong-ki was previously married to the actress Song Hye-kyo and separated from her in 2019.
Song’s heartwarming letter to his fans
The actor shared the news of his newborn baby through his fancafe, along with an adorable photo of his and his son’s hands. Based on a translation by Soompi, Song expressed gratitude to his fans for loving and supporting him. He also clarified that both his wife and son are both healthy and he is looking forward to a happy future with them. Find the whole letter penned by Song here:
“Hello, this is Joong Ki.
I’m curious how all of you are doing.
As you probably know all too well, I wrapped up filming for the movie ‘My Name Is Loh Kiwan’ in Hungary, and I even had the honor of attending the Cannes Film Festival for the movie ‘Hopeless’. All of the moments from the film festival still feel like a dream to me; that’s how happily I’ve been spending my days.
Today, I came here to greet you because I have one more piece of news that feels like a dream, and I wanted to be the first to tell you.
Right now, I’m in Italy.
Here, in my wife’s hometown of Rome, we happened to welcome our baby. It’s a healthy son.. and both the baby and his mother… are in very good health. As we welcomed [our child] in good health and joy, I am taking care of my family very happily, with a grateful heart.
I think [our son] is the most precious gift to have found its way to us, a married couple whose biggest dream all our lives was to start a happy family.
And I think it’s thanks to the many people who gave us their support that such a happy day has found us. Thank you.
