LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As MCU's 'Secret Invasion' inches towards its release date, fans cannot help but wonder if any of their favourite Avengers will make an appearance in the series. Despite speculations around the cast and the release of the official trailer, fans have been pondering about the same.
Even Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury has also been absent from the MCU since 'Spiderman: Far From Home'. The movie's ending revealed that Fury had recruited a shape-shifting Skrull to take his place on Earth, while he was off to a different world.
Will there be any Avengers in 'Secret Invasion'?
Jackson teased the actual reason behind the absence of Avengers in 'Secret Invasion'. As per Vanity Fair, he said, "What he’s not doing is calling in his super friends. So that’s part of the whole dilemma. I mean people want them and he’s not bringing them. You’ll find that out. There’s a very good reason he’s holding back." The trailer makes it very clear that Fury is on his own in his battle against the Skrulls.
However, Fury is not entirely alone. He is supported by Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and some new faces, including Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman).
Nick Fury is coming home
Fury is finally coming home, but he will have to charge when it comes to battling the Skrulls. On returning to Earth he witnesses chaos given that there is no way to distinguish between Skrulls and humans. However, it will be interesting to witness Fury form a team of his own to make up for the absence of the Avengers. While the original six Avengers have been given their own set of conclusions, this also confirms the fact that they will not be back to take on any threats against Earth. Fury is on his own and he will have to hold his allies close if he hopes to win. 'Secret Invasion' will premiere on June 21 on Disney+.
