NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Bruce Springsteen, who has been recently dealing with a slew of medical issues, was required to postpone a handful of performances to prevent "something worse" from occurring to his health.
According to a source close to Springsteen, his wife, Patti Scialfa, his doctors, and his fellow E Street Band members intervened to persuade the rocker, 73, to postpone his gigs and concentrate on his recovery out of concern that his health would "get worse" if he doesn't take the time to recover, as per The Daily Mail.
Notably, the 'Born to Run' singer postponed all eight of his scheduled September shows in order to receive treatment for "symptoms of peptic ulcer disease." The recent announcement came after Springsteen was forced to cancel two gigs in Philadelphia due to Covid.

Amid Bruce Springsteen's recent peptic ulcer disease condition, Patti Scialfa has ordered her rocker husband to rest and focus on healing from the painful condition.
According to an insider speaking exclusively to The Daily Mail, "Bruce has had a rough couple of years. He's had Covid several times and even had to pull the plug on shows in August due to getting the latest strain."
The source further added, "This was just a couple of weeks ago and it really takes a toll on someone of his age."
Springsteen is married to his doting wife of over three decades, Scialfa, whom he met in the early 1980s when they crossed paths at a local bar.
Being a talented musician in her own right, Scialfa became the backup singer for the famed E Street Band during their legendary 'Born in the U.S.A. Tour' in 1984, bringing her enticing voice and alluring presence to Springsteen's concerts.
In his 2016 memoir 'Born to Run', Springsteen officially admitted that he had experienced episodes of depression in his 60s. Moreover, the singer recounted how his wife, Scialfa, would view him at his worst, even though his difficulties may not have been apparent to others on the outside.
"Patti will observe a freight train bearing down, loaded with nitroglycerin and running quickly out of track ... she gets me to the doctors and says, 'This man needs a pill'," noted the 'Dancing in the Dark' singer.

As mentioned above, he has previously experienced mental health issues, and in a conversation with Esquire, he admitted, "I’ve had to deal with a lot of it over the years."
Also, he has reportedly admitted to taking various medications in recent years to "keep [him] on an even keel."
Springsteen has not specified the duration of his peptic ulcer condition. It has probably been since at least mid-August when the rocker had to cancel two shows in Philadelphia due to an unidentified health problem.
An August 16 announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) account stated that the musician had "been taken ill," without specifying a health problem, but it is now widely believed that it had to do with his peptic ulcer ailment.
Notably, Springsteen and The E Street Band were forced to postpone their tour twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic after it was first scheduled to begin in 2020 in support of his number-one 'Letter to You' record.
Talking to Daily Mail, the source added that since his throat surgery in 2013, during which surgeons ripped open Springsteen's vocal cords to repair damaged discs in his neck, the singer "hasn't been the same."
"It has really had an impact on his overall well-being. Everyone wants him to just focus on his health and not push himself," added the insider.
