LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kesha has been hailed online for ditching Sean 'Diddy' Combs' name from the lyrics of her hit song after the rapper was accused of rape and ongoing physical abuse by his former girlfriend Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura.
The 36-year-old singer, formerly known as Ke$ha, was performing at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 18, 2023, when sang 'TiK ToK' as the second song in her set.
During the set, she left the audience shocked by changing the 2009 song’s opening line, singing “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me” — a clear change from the original lyrics, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy.”
The 'Blah Blah Blah' singer, who is currently on her Only Love Tour, also changed the lyric during a performance in Oakland on Friday night, according to Daily Mail.
Kesha previously performed the song in Denver a few days before Cassie's lawsuit, with the lyrics still intact.
What are Cassie’s allegations against Diddy?
Kesha apparently changed the lyrics to display her solidarity with Cassie, who recently filed a bombshell lawsuit against Diddy where she aired the explosive rape allegations against the hip-hop legend.
The suit alleged the rapper controlled and abused Cassie for over a decade, plied her with drugs, beat her, and forced her to have sex with multiple male prostitutes.
In other court documents, Ventura claimed that when she attempted to break up with Combs in 2018, he "forced her into her home and raped her while she repeatedly said 'no' and tried to push him away."
“After years in quiet and darkness,” Cassie said in a legal declaration filed in Manhattan's Federal District Court.
“I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”
However, on Friday, the pair surprisingly announced they both had reached an agreement just 24 hours after the filing.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control over,” Cassie said in her statement, adding, “I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.”
Meanwhile, Diddy stated, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.” His attorney also stressed that by settling his client was not admitting any wrongdoing.
