LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sean Davis, the CEO and co-founder of conservative online magazine and podcast The Federalist, recently came under fire for calling Taylor Swift "dumb" and saying "her music sucks."
Davis took to X, formerly Twitter, to share an article from The Federalist written by Mark Hemingway titled, "Taylor Swift's Popularity Is A Sign of Societal Decline." Davis shared the article on X with a caption that read, "Taylor Swift is dumb and her music sucks."
Davis was quick to face the wrath of Swift's strong and dedicated fanbase, known as "Swifties," who called out the The Federalist CEO for his comment on the pop star.

Davis is the CEO and co-founder of The Federalist, which launched in September 2013. According to his bio on the official website of the publication, Davis previously served as an economic policy adviser to former Texas Governor Rick Perry.
He was also the CFO of Daily Caller and worked as chief investigator for Senator Tom Coburn. The Hill reportedly named Davis as one of the top congressional staffers under the age of 35 for his role in spearheading the enactment of the law that created USA Spending.
The bio also mentioned that Davis earned a BBA degree in finance from Texas Tech University and an MBA in finance and entrepreneurial management from the Wharton School.

What did The Federalist article on Taylor Swift say?
In The Federalist article written about Swift and shared by Davis, the writer, Hemingway, claims "audiences and elite tastemakers alike have decided Taylor Swift’s narcissistic lyrics and cliched music are a cultural triumph" before asking, "but why would we celebrate this?"
While Hemingway mentioned that he understands the "important aspects" of Swift's appeal, he said that he is "not sure" if the pop star's "popularity is a testament to her talent."
Both the article and Davis' comments left fans of Swift enraged, prompting many to call out Davis on social media.
Taylor Swift fans slam Sean Davis over remarks about pop star
Several of Swift's fans took to X to call out Davis for his remarks on the multi-Grammy Award winner.
"If you went to war, your parents would rather a flag return," one said. "We both know you don’t believe that. Outrage clicks pay you," one mentioned.
"She has over 103 Million Swifties! 48% are Male and 52% are Women. I think you are way outnumbered!" another stated.
"No that would be the Federalist," one mocked. "Terrible take," a fifth wrote.
One fan asked, "Sean, who?" while another echoed, "Who's Sean Davis?"
"Imagine being an adult with such deep insecurities about your masculinity that you trash THE most popular female musician in the country who is also an astute businesswoman, renowned philanthropist, off-the-charts talented and a better human than you could ever hope to be. Do better, you sad little man," wrote journalist Victoria Brownworth.
"Of all the issues in our society right now, THIS was the best u could do? find a diff job bb," a Swiftie added.
One fan said, "Karma is a cat, Sean", while another joked, "Here for the ratio."
