PUNTA MITA, MEXICO: In Season 5 of 'Too Hot To Handle', a fresh group of singles arrives at Lana's retreat, surprised to be selected for the popular Netflix series. These individuals, accustomed to relying on physical connections, now face the challenge of exploring intimacy without sex. Trust issues from past relationships and lingering childhood traumas add complexity to their journey. While some couples bond quickly, others require time and patience to establish connections. The introduction of Lana's sex ban reshapes dynamics, leading to captivating and rapidly evolving relationships throughout the season, creating an intriguing web of couples, interests, and breakups to keep track of.
During the first few episodes, Alex Snell and Hunter LoNigro both clicked on the same girl, Elys Hutchinson, and they more or less competed to be her bed partner. While she was attracted to Hunter at first due to his physical appearance, later on a date arranged by Lana, she swapped him for Alex because she felt a better connection with him - and he was funnier. Meanwhile, when Alex was not getting attention from Elys, he decided to pair up with Meghan Thompson but in the end dumped her for Elys, and went ahead to take the date.
Elys Hutchinson chooses Hunter LoNigro over Alex Snell
Elys and Hunter LoNigro were the initial couple to form on 'Too Hot To Handle' before the other singles discovered they were part of the show. Things heated up rapidly, prompting them to couple up almost instantly. While on the boat, they decided to be together, and though she was extremely attracted to Hunter's looks, she found a thing for Alex as he was funnier. Unfortunately, their connection resulted in multiple rule violations, causing the prize money to decrease within the first few days of the retreat. Despite finding Hunter physically appealing, Elys felt a significant intellectual mismatch between them. Consumed by thoughts of Alex, she decided to explore the possibility of a stronger connection with him and ultimately ended her relationship with Hunter, previously having broken up with Alex to be with him. Hunter took the heartbreak pretty hard and said, "This feels like a punch on the face." However, he was still rather calm about the entire situation and later told Alex and Elys, "It's good that you guys followed your heart."
Elys Hutchinson steals Alex Snell from Megan Thompson
Elys and Alex quickly formed a connection even before the other singles discovered they were part of 'Too Hot To Handle'. While Alex displayed a clear attraction toward Elys, she also found herself intrigued by Hunter. Initially, Elys pursued a relationship with Hunter, but she soon realized that their intellectual compatibility fell short of her expectations. As a result, she shifted her focus to Alex. The two became a couple and enjoyed getting to know each other in the villa, exchanging playful banter despite the betrayal they caused to Hunter and Megan in subsequent episodes.
Megan Thomson and Alex Snell were among the few uncoupled singles on 'Too Hot To Handle'. Megan developed an interest in Alex, despite his focus on Elys Hutchinson. However, when it became evident that pursuing Elys was unlikely to go well, Alex decided to explore a connection with Megan. They had a promising conversation and seemed to enjoy each other's company. Nevertheless, as soon as Elys approached Alex and expressed interest in coupling up, he swiftly disregarded Megan, leaving her devastated. Megan was waiting for Alex in the bubble bath when co-star Courtney Rudolph broke the news of Alex being on a date with Elys. Devastated, Megan then sobbed into Courtney's arms.
