LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Last week, ‘The View’ co-host discussed the congressional hearing on UFOs, where Whoopi Goldberg admitted to believing in aliens. Joy Behar also mentioned in the segment that astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson would be joining the co-hosts soon. In the most recent episode of the talk show, Tyson appeared on ‘The View’ and addressed several questions regarding aliens, space, and UFOs.
Tyson was prepared to answer all questions posed by the co-hosts as he sat between Behar and Sunny Hostin. As the much-anticipated topic about UFOs and aliens began, Tyson decided to disqualify Goldberg from the conversation.
Why did Tyson disqualify Goldberg?
Goldberg asked Tyson about the congressional hearing last week, “What was your take on it?” Tyson responded, “I hadn’t heard the phrase 'non-human biologics' before.” Hostin, who sat next to him, clarified, “It means alien.” Tyson was quick to rebuttal, “Would it have to? Consider the tree of life.” Tyson then goes on the clarify that anything could have contaminated anything they found from Earth when Hostin mentioned UFOs. Goldberg then questioned Tyson about meteors as he once again managed to try and refute the existence of alien lifeforms. Despite his efforts, Hostin pressed him further and ended her statement with, “I believe it,” as she sipped on her coffee. After Behar pointed out that Hostin believes in a “lot of things,” Tyson shifted the focus to Goldberg.
Tyson pointed at Goldberg and said, “I hear Whoopi’s all in it. You are disqualified from this because you played an alien on a tv show.” Tyson’s sense of humor had Goldberg smiling wide as the co-hosts and audience reveled in the moment. Tyson looked at the producers, while his finger pointed at Goldberg, “So, she is disqualified from participating in this conversation.” Goldberg finally had a chance to respond after being ‘disqualified’ as she said, “I believe that it is not possible in this magnificently huge universe that we are the only lifeform.”
‘Star Trek’ reference
Previously, Tyson referred to Goldberg’s role as Guinan in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and ‘Star Trek: Picard’ among others in the 'Star Trek' franchise. Further, into the segment, Tyson spoke about NASA’s latest mission with women and people of color as the picture flashes on the screen behind them. As they wore their orange suits, Goldberg looked at the picture and said, “Like Star Trek.” Tyson turned to Goldberg and asked, “You wanna join in there? They need a bartender right, is that what you’re saying.” Tyson doubled down on the ‘Star Trek’ reference since Guinan is a bartender in the franchise.
