NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Forbes’ 50 over 50 list for 2023 is officially out, and the likes of Peggy Whitson and Monica Jain have made it to the list. This list of 200 brilliant women has been “produced in partnership with Mika Brzezinski and her Know Your Value Initiative,” as per Forbes. The ‘Morning Joe’ host Brzezinski has spoken more about the list on MSNBC.
Over the weekend, the Twitter for ‘Morning Joe’ shared a glimpse of Brzezinski’s thoughts about 50 over 50 while she discussed her own life and accomplishments at 56. However, the internet hasn’t been too kind to Brzezinski as she was slammed over user of fillers and Botox.
‘I’m celebrating my age’
Brzezinski said how people can embrace their age, just as she does at 56. The TV personality spoke about her own life on MSNBC. She said, “I was an ambitious TV journalist and the mom of two young girls. When I was at home, I obsessed over work. I wrongly believed I only had a decade to accomplish my professional dreams, because my career would surely be over at 40.” As for the Forbes list, Brzezinski said, “What I’ve learned, and what the women on Forbes and Know Your Value’s third annual 50 Over 50 US list have proven—yet again—is we are just getting started. There is no need to rush. Time is actually our friend.”
‘Morning Joe’s official Twitter account tweeted, “The women on this year’s @Forbes "50 Over 50" list are living examples of how strong, empathetic, talented women can shatter stereotypes that have held too many back for far too long, says @morningmika [via @KnowYourValue]” It was after this Tweet, that Brzezinski faced severe backlash.
‘Morning joke’
Some people on the internet pointed out Brzezinski’s alleged cosmetic procedures as one wrote, “Celebrating with lots and lots of fillers,” while another asked, “Do they Botox too?” Some have labeled the ‘Morning Joe’ host a ‘Morning Joke’ as one person tweeted, “She is the Morning joke. So strong she has to hold the cup with both hands.”
People also tweeted about her marriage with Joe Scarborough as they wrote, “I don’t think that marrying the boss is a road to success to be emulated.” And another also tweeted, “How do you live with yourself being married to Joe? Does the mysterious death of his intern not concern you? Yikes.” Her work with ‘Morning Joe’ has also reflected on how people have viewed the Forbes list as one person wrote, “These people don't even report the truth so we know this is bullshit.”
