LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the recent airing of 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on June 20, Maya Hawke openly discussed a personal experience involving her father, Ethan Hawke, during her adolescent years. Sharing her story during a lively segment of the show, the 24-year-old actress engaged in a generational question-and-answer game alongside Bryan Cranston, who was also a guest on the Bravo talk show.
As part of the "High School Me!" segment, host Andy Cohen, 55, asked Maya about the worst trouble she had gotten into as a teen. Maya, dressed in a sleeveless pink champagne dress adorned with long sheer gloves, confessed, "Oh, I lied about where I said that I was going to therapy, and I really went to lose my virginity." Andy burst into laughter at the unexpected revelation, and Bryan jokingly chimed in with, "Me, too."
‘My father was very very upset’
Maya expressed her surprise at openly sharing such a personal detail, stating, "I can't believe I just said that, but that's the truth." Andy reacted with a stunned "Wow!" to the revelation, prompting Maya to elaborate on her father's reaction.
"My father was very, very upset," Maya revealed. Andy highlighted that Ethan was only aware that Maya had not gone to therapy, remaining oblivious to the actual motive behind her actions. Maya confirmed, "No, and he gave me a real hard time." She then imitated her father's voice, recalling his questions, "'Where were you? Where did you go?'" Maya amusingly responded, "'How am I supposed to have secrets if I'm not allowed to tell lies?'"
Both Andy and Bryan were impressed by her clever comeback, with Bryan suggesting it be turned into a bumper sticker. Reflecting on Ethan's perspective, Andy remarked that he likely respected Maya's response. Maya agreed, jesting about her father being "foiled again."
‘I regret ever loving you’
Later on, virtual fans asked Maya about the possibility of Quentin Tarantino moving forward with 'Kill Bill Volume 3', starring Maya's mother, Uma Thurman, 53, and herself. Maya shared her insight, saying, "I think that he really loves talking about the idea of making a Volume 3. So actually what I think it would take is everyone not talking about it for long enough that he gets annoyed that no one is asking him for it anymore, and then he'll be like, 'Now I'm going to show 'em that they want it.'" Bryan playfully suggested that reverse psychology could work in this case.
