LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mark Ruffalo caused a stir on Twitter on Thursday, August 10, as his followers have resorted to blocking him.
The Marvel star is often candid about all things politics and climate change, but only this time, it wasn’t received well.
The GOP debate is officially less than two weeks from now, and the 2024 Presidential race is fast approaching too. As Donald Trump’s third indictment trends all over the world, Ruffalo weighs in on the matter.
Ruffalo was mocked and blocked by the people on Twitter after he shared a news piece from ABC News, where the outlet allegedly found "54 cases invoking 'Trump' in connection with violence, threats, alleged assaults."
‘No other president has inspired so much terrorism’
Ruffalo in his tweet detailed that Trump has inspired "terrorism and mayhem" amongst other things in the US.
Marvel star wrote, “Words lead to deeds. No other president has inspired so much terrorism, violence, mayhem, and division in the USA. Woe for this country if this man is given power again.”
Along with the tweet, he also linked the news piece by ABC News, written by Mark Levine, which was first published in 2018, and updated in 2020. The news story reportedly identifies a grand total of 54 cases from 2015 to 2020 that allegedly prove the former President’s connection to violence, threats, and assaults.
‘Blocked’
As Ruffalo shared this, he received plenty of backlash for the same, as several people blocked him. One person tweeted, “I shall definitely take a Marvel actor's political opinion very seriously.”
Some have also pointed out that the article Ruffalo shared was from 2020, and not recent as they tweeted, “2020 article to justify stuff in 2023? Grow up.” Another person wrote, “Well, another once favorite actor just bit the dust!”
A lot have simply responded to Ruffalo’s tweet with, “BLOCKED!” and someone also wrote, “Just so you know, I would never vote for Trump, but hearing someone like you say something like that makes me was to vote for him.”
One of the most common occurrences in response to Ruffalo’s tweet remained, “Blocked.”
While one said, "This is why you don’t EVER take actors opinions into consideration for making life decisions. They are total fools who pretend to be brave, wise, strong, and moral on tv and can’t manage to read a history book."
