BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' fans are set for a big treat on May 21st, as the episode opens up the stage to more than a dozen famous performers. Viewers couldn't help but grimace when Pitbull kicked off the show with a performance during the finale episode, which they feel was a "lip-sync" performance.
Season 21 of the popular reality competition series 'American Idol' airs a new episode on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at PM ET on ABC. It follows the Top 3 contenders as they perform one more time for a chance at the coveted championship and the major cash prize of $250,000. They will have to give it their all to impress the judges, a live audience, and spectators in order to receive enough votes to win. The season 21 finale of 'American Idol' will include not just the top three competitors - Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough - but also numerous renowned artists who will add their share of glitz and glam as part of the finals broadcast.

Ryan Seacrest, the event's longtime host, began the evening by greeting the audience to the finale. Pitbull kicked up the live finale performances with a powerful rendition of his song 'Jumpin' while dressed sharply in all-white. Pitbull then sang 'Give Me Everything,' accompanied by the top 12 singers from season 21 of 'American Idol,' with backing dancers likewise dressed in all-white.

After seeing Pitbull kickoff the show, fans took to Twitter to ask, "Lipsync much?" Another compared the performance to "Noise." One viewer asked, "Why is Pitbull on #AmericanIdol ? He hasn’t had a hit in like a decade. I see he’s still cliche we f*ck." One wrote, " it could be worse they could force pitbull to sing another one of his old stale same sounding songs ! Oh the torture !"
Criticizing his performance, one viewer tweeted, "pitbull’s obviously lip syncing and the contestants sound like they’re on kidz bop.. kinda a mess!" Another person asked, "They couldn't do better than this awful rehash @pitbull on #AmericanIdol?" Another wrote, "Why would they have this crappy @pitbull on the #AmericanIdol finale? Is this the only guy who would show up FFS?" One added, "@ABCNetwork Ugh #pitbull how boring and mundane ! His time was up years ago! Just stale ! More of the same nonsense ! Just embarrassing!"
