CARPINTERIA, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Costner is not doing well amid his messy breakup with his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner. "It’s a very tough time for Kevin and he’s only human," a source revealed.
Ending 18 years of their marriage, Baumgartner filed for divorce from the 'Yellowstone' star on May 1. The now-split couple who share three children, Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13, are now requesting joint custody of the children, reported OK Magazine.
Costner 'has a high-stress project he’s been working on for months'
Talking about Costner not being able to process his emotions, the insider told the outlet that "He’s going through h*** and talking to lawyers nonstop," and added, "He also has a high-stress project he’s been working on for months, Horizon."
"It’s going to be a long and lonely summer as he throws himself into work instead of the domestic family bonding time he was craving," the source revealed. According to the source, the mom-of-three has made it difficult for Costner to get through the nasty split. She has "refused to vacate" the actor's million-dollar mansion which Costner claimed was a violation of their prenup signed prior to their marriage.
As per the agreement signed in 2004, Baumgartner is required to leave the residence within 30 days of filing for divorce. 'The Dancing with Wolves' star and his attorney Laura Wasser has sought the court to issue an order prohibiting her from continuing to reside in his mansion, according to court documents.
Baumgartner claimed Costner seeks to kick her and the children out of the mansion
The separated spouses are in the midst of a legal feud where they have accused each other of issues within their family. Costner first made a legal filing against his former lover as he accused her of withdrawing $95, 000 from his bank account without his authorization. He claimed that she made the withdrawal shorty after the divorce was filed.
"Since April 2023, Christine has withdrawn from my bank account and charged on my credit card a total of $95,000, payable to her divorce attorney and forensic accountant. This was done without any prior notice to me," the actor wrote mentioned in an additional legal declaration.
Following Costner's legal filing, his ex-wife denied his claims and requested an emergency meeting with a judge. In the court documents, Baumgartner's attorney insisted the actor "seeks to kick Christine and their three children out of the house that the children have lived in for their entire lives."
"Although the legal basis for Kevin’s request to kick his wife and children out of their home is non-existent, that is still a matter of critical importance to Christine," the court documents continued.
