Why did JT throw her phone at Lil Uzi Vert at the BET Awards?
The City Girls rapper, JT, unleashed a fiery outburst, referring to Lil Uzi as a "groupie" and throwing her phone at him before storming out of the ceremony. The night began positively for Lil Uzi, who opened with the crowd-favorite 'I Just Wanna Rock'. However, it ended with them trailing after JT in the aftermath of their scuffle. Video clips captured JT passionately confronting Lil Uzi, hurling expletives their way, and storming off. As she made her exit, Lil Uzi attempted to follow, escalating the already intense situation. As the conversation happened, she called the Philadelphia artist a “F****** groupie” before hurling her phone at them while yelling, “B****!” Lil Uzi was shocked by the sudden trail of movement and was stuck to their seat while JT continued yelling expletives at them. “The f*** wrong with you, B****? B****a**," she added before storming off.
The cause of the altercation between JT and Lil Uzi remains unclear, but according to commentary on a video, JT was upset because Lil Uzi was talking to Ice Spice. A video shared by reality TV star Natalie Nunn showed Ice Spice seated next to JT and a stern-faced Lil Uzi at the awards. The Internet was set ablaze by the news of JT's attack on the rapper, making her the center of attention.
'This isn’t okay'
The Internet was furious as one Instagram user commented and said, "Not acceptable, and in public." A second user also expressed their opinion on the Shaderoom Instagram post on the incident, stating, "Idc how mad you get at your partner… Control that in public, address it in private. This was not cool." A third user added, "Ain’t no way I would’ve let him know he [they] pissed me off this bad in public… but once we got home…." Another user referred to Lil Uzi as a man, even though he uses they/them pronouns, and claimed, "Uzi apologized like a man even though she’s wrong." However, a few others called out JT for allegedly taking advantage of being a woman. They said, "This is so sad because if it was the other way around, chicks would be screaming to cancel Uzi and for him [them] to be arrested." Another user pointed out that JT fought Uzi in public as she was "insecure".
