AUSTIN, TEXAS: Lil Tay aka Claire Hope, whose death was announced this week on her Instagram handle, was an Internet celebrity well-known for her candor. Her rise to stardom was meteoric, gaining both a large following and a sizable number of haters. Her untimely demise has raised many questions.
On a 'Joe Rogan Experience' episode, UFC commentator Joe Rogan and podcaster Matt Taibbi began watching videos of Lil Tay and made direct remarks about her. Rogan didn't appear happy with the content she made.
'This is the death of society'
Taibbi inquired about Lil Tay when Rogan introduced her, saying, “Lil Tay is a 9-year-old girl who is famous now on the internet for talking sh*t and showing all the money she has and all the things she buys. This is the death of society. Little Tay is the death of society.”
After watching the video of the young star, Rogan and Taibbi said sarcastically, “This is what we’re doing.”
Rogan made no secret of the fact that he disapproved of Lil Tay's actions. According to rumors, Lil Tay's internet misbehavior even lost her mother her position as a real estate agent. Lil Tay's death was announced in a message on her official Instagram handle.
‘The adults need to do some talking’
Claire Hope and her brother Jason Tian were both dead, the post confirmed. The deaths are under investigation, it added.
The child star's fans were shocked by the revelation, while some were skeptical of the enigmatic circumstances surrounding her death.
A fan commented, “Sad that these kids died. Didn’t know anything about them before. But judging by her content it seems like she had terrible parents.”
Another added, “Nah because y’all need to explain this. How do two young children die after being exploited their whole lives. The adults need to do some talking.”
“Sad but a little odd and strange how she stopped posting ages ago and now she’s gone just like her brother. Rip sis!” someone else wrote.
Jason Tian, Lil Tay's brother, had made a number of posts on Instagram about their violent father and his attempts to take Tay's money. Claire Hope was embroiled in a legal dispute with her father, who requested custody in court.
