AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan mocked transgender fighter, Fallon Fox, for "competing" as a female during her MMA debut. During his podcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience', he explained why he felt offended by Fox's "deception" as a transgender MMA fighter.
Fox was born male, but as an adult, the Ohio-born veteran underwent gender reassignment surgery to become a female. Fox made her professional MMA debut in May 2012, following an amateur MMA bout in 2011.
'That person became a woman for two years'
Rogan recently discussed with hip-hop veteran, Ice Cube, about transgender women competing against cisgender women in women's sports on his podcast. He said, "The one that drove me the craziest was the MMA fighter [Fallon Fox]. Because that person became a woman for two years, and then started competing as a woman, and not telling them, and saying that it was a medical issue. [Saying] that I don't have to disclose a medical condition. Like, no, no, no, no, no. That's not what that is."
Rogan added, "If that person said that they were a woman and competed against women, that's deception. That's a f*****g lie. But if you said you're a biological male and the women still want to fight you, okay. All good."
'You’re a f******g man'
Fox's last MMA fight was in September 2014, when she defeated Tamikka Brents via first-round TKO. Fox later announced her retirement from MMA. However, the 47-year-old continues to be an outspoken supporter of transgender rights, particularly the right of transgender women to compete in women's sports.
Rogan slammed Fox for competing in women's MMA prior to her final MMA fight and retirement. He referred to Fox as a "guy" in one of the episodes of his podcast, saying, "I say if you had a d**k at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a d**k. You have bigger hands, you have bigger shoulder joints. You’re a f*****g man. That’s a man, OK?”
