AUSTIN, TEXAS: Over the years, the combat game has seen many greats, but some have cemented their place so firmly that even the current crop and future generations of fighters will always look up to them. When talking about the sport, everyone thinks of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Jon Jones, and Tyson Fury when discussing the best fighters. There have been heavyweight champions like Ali, Tyson, and Fury, but Joe Rogan appears to be astonished by Jon Jones' special combination of abilities.
Jones is unique because of his commitment to improving and becoming even more dominant with each bout he participates in. He is an intelligent fighter, though, and uses a variety of strikes to keep his adversary on the defensive, preventing them from getting a chance to hit back.
'He was just a juggernaut'
In the past, Rogan has made statements that have raised questions and sparked controversy. Many people questioned Rogan's judgments when he suggested that Fury could potentially lose to Jones in a fight. However, it's possible that Jones loses to one legendary boxer in Rogan's mind. Each time the name "Iron Mike" is brought up, Rogan is reduced to a gushing fanboy. Rogan has expressed the belief that during Mike Tyson's prime, he was capable of defeating any fighter in the world.
“Mike Tyson, in his prime, in those years through like 86′,87′, to 89′,90′. Whatever those years were, where he was just storming the gates, I’d put that Mike Tyson against anybody that ever lived. That guy was a special fighter. He was just a juggernaut, you couldn’t stop him! He was a different model of fighter that we had ever seen in the heavyweight division before. A f*cking destroyer man, where every fight was an execution,” Rogan said.
After Rogan predicted that Jones would defeat Fury, he acknowledged that Mike Tyson in his prime would have a significant advantage in terms of strength. However, it's important to highlight that Mike possessed a ferocious and relentless fighting instinct that was unparalleled in many fights. On the other hand, Jones was widely regarded as a formidable force in the light heavyweight category of the UFC, often proving to be a nightmare for his opponents.
Jon Jones vs Mike Tyson
Although Jones is a skilled wrestler and could potentially defeat Mike using grappling moves, Rogan believes that Mike's raw strength and ferocity would be too much for Jones to handle. On paper, a bout between Mike Tyson and Jon Jones appears to be unique. The UFC legend, Jones, stands tall at 6'4" and possesses an impressive reach of 84.5 inches.
However, it is important to note that Mike is approximately 5'11" tall with a reach of 71 inches. Nonetheless, one of the reasons Rogan believes Mike would be unbeatable against any fighter in the world is his ability to evade punches with expert moves and sheer strength. Mike's exceptional defensive skills and his innate strength make him a formidable force in the ring.
