AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Jonas performed a heartwarming rendition of a song he penned for his wife Sophie Turner on Sunday, August 3, at The Jonas Brothers concert in Texas despite circulating scuttlebutts regarding the couple's divorce. According to Page Six, the 34-year-old singer is reportedly preparing to file for separation after his relationship with the actress suffered 'serious problems.'
However, he showed no signs of their marital tensions during his gig, with many fans claiming that Sophie attended the show. Joe gave an emotional performance of the band's song, "Hesitate", which his brother Nick, 30, called Joe's 'love letter' to Sophie in 2019.
Why did Joe Jonas write the song for Sophie Turner?
Joe later admitted to Apple Music that he "wrote it for [his] significant other, Sophie, and it's one of those love letters that you write to your partner saying, 'I'll be there no matter what.'" He then detailed about the track in The Jonas Brothers documentary, 'Happiness Continues', saying, "It's like my vows before I wrote my vows. It's my promise to Sophie."
He added that listening to the piece brings him back to their wedding day, saying, "For me, it takes me to a whole different universe. I'm seeing her walk down the aisle again every time I close my eyes." It is also reported that the song mentions the way Joe helped Sophie during her battle with depression.
The chorus includes the lines, "I will take your pain / And put it on my heart / I won't hesitate / Just tell me where to start / I thank the oceans for giving me you / You save me once, and now I'll save you too / I won't hesitate for you."
Sophie previously credited Joe for helping her through her mental health struggles
"I was going through this phase of being very mentally unwell," Sophie recalled while speaking to The Sunday Times. "He was, like, 'I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.' That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way."
Joe Jonas was wearing his ring during the concert
While the Jonas brothers lit up The Moody Center in Austin, one hawk-eyed fan had his eyes on the stars at the side of the stage, sharing, "'BREAKING UPDATE: not only is Joe wearing his ring tonight in AUSTIN BUT SOPHIE IS THERE I REPEAT SOPHIE IS IN THE BUILDING."
Sophie was likely present at the concert to support her husband or to care for the two children they share. According to Daily Mail, multiple sources previously confirmed that Joe was mainly looking after their children in the recent few months.
They said he had been caring for their two young daughters — Willa, three, and a 14-month-old whose name has not been publicly revealed, "pretty much all of the time" for the past three months.
