LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joe Biden’s dog became a hot topic on ‘The View’ after he bit Secret Service officers in the White House. This particular segment focussed less on Biden’s dog and more on the co-hosts discussing their own dogs. Apart from Whoopi Goldberg, co-hosts Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin are all proud dog owners. While Ana Navarro is also a part of the proud dog owner list, she wasn’t present for this segment.
Goldberg couldn’t help but point out the faults with dog names, especially with those of Hostin and Haines, before Behar spoke about her dog, Bernie. However, it was quickly revealed that while her dog is loved by all, he doesn’t love Goldberg all that much.
‘He doesn’t like me’
As they were discussing Joe Biden's dog, Commander, a conversation came up about dog names. Behar made a quick joke about George Washington’s dogs’ names, which are a well-known piece of history. Some of Washington’s dogs were Tipsy, Truelove, Drunkard and Madam Moose. The one that Behar focussed on was named Sweet Lips. After a joke about how Washington didn’t even call his late wife Martha Sweet Lips, Behar went on to talk about her own dog. Behar said, “Bernie, he has lived such a life that dog.” As soon as Bernie was mentioned, Goldberg rolled her eyes with a quick, “Yeah.” Behar continued, “He lays back, he will let anybody touch him, he is a total sl*t that dog.”
Goldberg disagreed the entire time and even interrupted Behar once, saying, “No he won’t.” After Behar finished her statement, Goldberg finally said, “He doesn’t like me.” Behar was ready with an explanation as to why her dog, Bernie, didn’t like Goldberg and wouldn’t let him touch her, stating, “Because she smells of cats, 'cause she has cats.” Before Goldberg and Behar could get into an argument over Bernie’s disdain for Goldberg, Griffin quickly switched the topic back to Biden’s dog. As for Goldberg, she is the odd one out as she is the proud owner of a rescue cat named Verrazano, who was nicknamed Vinny.
Goldberg mocks Hostin’s dogs’ names
Earlier in the segment, Hostin, who is a big lover, which can be seen on her Instagram too, spoke about different types of dogs, “You know, I’m an animal lover, we all know. I have Newfoundlands, they bark, they weigh a hundred and fifty pounds, they slobber on you and they lick you on your face, and then that’s it.” Haines also recalled a story about one of Hostin’s dogs chasing a delivery person but Hostin refused to talk about it. Goldberg then asked, “Okay so point me, what’s your dog’s name?” Hostin very proudly answered, “Harlow and Finneus.” It didn’t take long for Goldberg to clap back as she said, “That’s why they’re pissed off.” As the co-hosts and audience laughed, Hostin continued talking about her dogs, ignoring Goldberg’s comment on their names.
