PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Philadelphia Eagles’ Tyrie Cleveland had to leave the game mid-way as he suffered neck injuries while playing a preseason against the Cleveland Browns.
The game was going on Thursday night, August 17, at Lincoln Financial Field when the 25-year-old fell hard on his head and neck while catching the ball. During the process, he collided with quarterback Tanner McKee, The New York Post.
Is Tyrie Cleveland OK?
Cleveland reportedly lay on the ground for a few minutes after the fall before the Eagles’ medical staff checked him. The wide receiver was eventually put on a stretcher and taken out of the field for further assessment.
Later, Philadelphia Eagles posted on Twitter, “Injury Update: WR Tyrie Cleveland is out with a neck injury. He has movement in all of his extremities.”
Reporter Jamie Apody said ‘not the time folks’ after Tyrie Cleveland’s injury
WPVI TV reporter Jamie Apody released a video of the moment when Cleveland got injured. She wrote, “So a cart is coming out on the field for Tyrie Cleveland who is being taken off on a stretcher. Being stabilized. And Eagles fans are doing the wave?! Not the time folks. I love you. I do. But not the time.”
But there were some who did not like Apody’s criticism toward the fans as a user said, “Jamie could it be possible that fans hundreds of feet away not paying attention to a god awful preseason game may not be fully aware of what is happening on the field?”
Another one posted, “It wasn't announced in the stadium and he was down so close to the sideline that most didn't notice until the cart came out.”
“Great keep posting it and making it a bigger deal than it should be, they clearly didn’t know what was happening, but hey anything to take a shot at the fans and make them look bad right,” the third user added.
Moro Ojomo got his neck injured too
Meanwhile, apart from Cleveland, another Eagles player also needed to be carted off on a stretcher following an injury. Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo had to take a break after he reportedly got hit by teammate Tristin McCollum in the neck.
Eagles QB Marcus Mariota said, as per The USA Today, “Your heart goes out to them. When these situations get like that, it is scary.”
Besides, Eagles tweeted, "Injury Update: DT Moro Ojomo is out with a neck injury. He has movement in all of his extremities."
