LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ star Michael Strahan has been a sportsman all his life. The 51-year-old is a former professional football player who played for the New York Giants for nearly 15 years in the National Football League. His tenure as a professional athlete has only made his respect and love for professionals in different sports skyrocket.
Strahan recently posted a brief clip of a bout between the undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. The ‘GMA’ host who was watching the game with his friends at his place, posted a clip, showcasing the game and his enthusiasm for the much-awaited boxing match between Terrence and Errol.
Who is Michael Strahan’s favorite fighter?
Michael Strahan's interest in boxing comes as no surprise. His father, Gene Strahan was an Army Major and a boxer in the Armed Services tournaments with a 1-1 record against Ken Norton, who later became the heavyweight boxing champion. The ‘GMA’ host has been around for many years and has seen many fights during his lifetime but Terrence’s panache and ability to withstand any opposition has certainly impressed him. Terrence has won championships in lightweight, light welterweight, and welterweight across his career and has now extended his undefeated record to 40 fights, making him the undisputed welterweight champion since July 2023. He’s also often referred to as Terence 'Bud' Crawford and now stakes a credible claim as the world’s best fighter regardless of weight.
Strahan was recently watching the long-awaited fight between Terrence and Errol Spence along with friends when he shot a small clip of the fight and posted it on his Instagram. The friends in his video seemed to cheer Terence as they watched the match while Strahan captured their reactions. While a few in the comments section mentioned that “Terence “Bud” Crawford is undoubtedly their “favorite fighter of the current era”, Strahan didn’t mention or comment on the same. However, despite his silence, Michael showcased his love for boxing and also gave many a peek into his massive garage.
Michael’s continued absence from ‘GMA’
Michael has ditched the morning show for quite a while now. The ‘GMA’ star was away from the studio desk for the Friday broadcast of July 28 once again alongside Robin Roberts. However, Michael has continued to promote his other gig on his social media channels while maintaining silence on the issue of his return to ‘GMA.’ The 51-year-old has rigorously been promoting his personal brand and his stint as the host of ‘The $100,000 Pyramid’ only continues to strengthen. It’s unclear when Strahan will return to ‘GMA’ but his constant appraisals of other gigs at times don’t sit well with ‘GMA’ fans.
