LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: The captivating story of the Titanic submersible has not only captured the world's attention but also Adele's. During her Vegas residency performance on the night of June 23, Adele took a break from singing to engage with the audience and inquire about OceanGate's Titan vessel.
She asked if anyone in the crowd would be interested in seeing the Titanic wreckage, similar to the recent exploration. Adele conducted an impromptu poll, and it seemed that more people were not inclined to put themselves in that situation.
Interestingly, Adele also mentioned the concept of space travels aboard a rocket ship, which has been a recent trend among billionaires. However, the audience didn't seem enthusiastic about that either, and Adele jokingly referred to herself as a "p***y."
‘She is a titanic herself’
However, Adele’s jocular attempt didn’t go well with social media users who were quick to criticize the singer’s remarks. A Twitter account named @AboutMusicYT made an initial post, writing, ‘Adele asks who will go down in a submarine to see the Titanic in a recent concert, and makes people vote.’
Re-tweeting the same post, one user wrote, “So she thinks it's a joke making fun of people die? Other users had mixed feelings. While one commented, “This is the equivalent of someone jumping in the ocean because they thought they could find Ariel. Can you really feel sympathy for someone doing something asinine from the get go?” another wrote, “Where exactly is ‘making fun’”.
Another Twitter account by the name, “@buzzingpop, posted, “Adele revealed during her show that she wouldn’t go see the Titanic shipwreck: “I genuinely don’t have an interest in the deep sea or space”.
In the same post, one Twitter user commented, “She is a titanic herself”. The very comment tools fans and followers to a throwback moment when Adle herself had a Titanic-themed birthday party in May, 2018.
Adele’s dirty 30
Despite her hesitation, Adele acknowledged that she understood why some would be intrigued by the idea of exploring the sunken ship thousands of feet below the surface. However, for her, the thought was too frightening, especially considering the ship's implosion underwater.
Interestingly, Adele has a personal fascination with the Titanic. In the past, she even hosted a Titanic-themed birthday party to celebrate her 30th birthday, complete with a recreated fancy stairwell reminiscent of the iconic ship.
