CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: As a game of wit and quick thinking, 'Jeopardy!' makes sure it adds some humor to their own clues. Their category names and clues for the first two rounds are replete with puns and sarcasm, making the game a lot more fun.
However, the game show has been taking some really bold steps to make their categories fun and appealing for viewers. On the episode on Tuesday, June 27, 'Jeopardy!' added a category called Only Fans.
'Jeopardy!' adds 'Only Fans' category and it's not what you think
The idea of a category named Only Fans might set off a siren for what could the clues possibly be about. A streaming service that is mostly-known for selling adult entertainment seemed to have no business being up on the screen amongst the 'Jeopardy!' categories.
However, it turns out that the category was very literal with its title as the clues referred to the names of fandoms. The YouTube video of this specific category posted by 'Jeopardy!' had a caption that read, "Don't worry, this category IS safe for work." One of the clues was, "Lady Gaga has at least 3 tattoos honoring her biggest fans, called these. To this, two-day champ Donna correctly responded with, "Who are the Little Monsters?"
'I'm giggling'
Twitter was flooded by 'Jeopardy!' viewers reacting to the addition of the new caregory. Many found it quite clever while others fumed over the inclusion of such a category.
A fan tweeted, "I'm giggling jeopardy has a category called "only fans" tonight." Another said, "Jeopardy has a category called "OnlyFans" today. What do you think the questions were about?" Another fan had a funny take on the whole thing as they shared a GIF of portable fans along with the name of the category.
A fan was also glad to see Cleveland Browns being mentioned in the category, saying, "The Browns were on Jeopardy! and the category was “Only Fans.” I’m glad *this* was what they meant by “Only Fans.”" Another was devastated over missing out on the episode and tweeted, "Darn just when I miss a episode of Jeopardy it's interesting lol. I'd start a Only Fans page but no one wants to watch a washed up Telecommunications technician who's best talent is sarcasm."
Some unhappy fans questioned the need to add an R-rated name to their show. A fan tweeted, "Jeopardy (rated G) has an "only fans" category today." Another said, "They got #OnlyFans On Jeopardy. I’m canceling my cable subscription." A third tweeted, "Alex would’ve never allowed a category called Only Fans."
