LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Scarlett Johansson has revealed an embarrassing secret about herself that she hopes her two children, Rose Dauriac, 7, and 10-month-old Cosmo Jost, will never know. The 'Black Widow' actress admitted on an episode of 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in March 2022 that she started smoking as a teenager.
"My daughter may have asked me this before," the 'Lucy' star admitted. "I used to smoke when I was younger and I'm so ashamed. I just don't want her to ever think that I ever thought it was cool 'cause she can never, ever, ever smoke." She added, "Cause that’s what you do. You forbid your kids from doing things and then they don’t do them. So yeah, I just hope she never figures that out.”
Scarlett Johansson is not the only celebrity who stopped smoking
Gisele Bundchen revealed in 2020 what it took her to quit the harmful habit. “I don’t run anymore, but I ran then because it allowed me to feel my lungs and every time I ran for 20 minutes I was like, ‘OK, I can feel my lungs, OK, I’m not smoking,’” she told Vogue Australia. Even the former president of the United States, Barack Obama also revealed in his memoir that he smoked during his time in the White House. He was, however, forced to quit smoking when his daughter Malia Obama “frowned” after she smelled cigarettes on his breath.
Scarlett Johansson's daughter Rose is a very curious child
Johansson has previously revealed how her daughter has become curious, now that she has turned almost a year old. The 38-year-old said that Rose often asks questions like, “Why are you tweezing your eyebrows? Why are you curling your lashes? What's a tampon? What's it for?'
Scarlett Johansson on her relationship with her husband Colin Jost
The actress offered a rare glimpse of her life with her husband Colin Jost. She said that she gets competitive when it comes to playing Backgammon with the writer for the NBC sketch comedy series 'Saturday Night Live,' who she says he 'annoyingly wins' every time. "The last minute he'll roll a bunch of doubles," she said before adding that he also plays on his phone where he learns new tricks to get better.
Johansson also admitted that despite being married to Jost, they probably wouldn't have dated in high school after she saw his funny yearbook photo. "OK, so would high school ScarJo be into high school Colin?" Jost asked after showing her his photo as a teen with a 'mushroom' haircut. "Um, I don’t think so, no," Scarlett was quick to answer. "Firstly, my brother had that same haircut … I just can’t. There’s no way I mean who decided on that cut as a stylish thing, like what hairdresser was like I’ll try this."
The couple first met in 2006 when she starred on 'SNL' but they started to like each other years later when she came back to host in 2017. "I mean he’s a very cute guy, but the other times I was there I was like in another relationship … this time the timing was right," she said. "I think he looked different to me because I was available, the timing just has to be right."
Scarlett Johansson was previously married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 until their divorce in 2011, and Romain Dauriac from 2014-2017.
