SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has apparently been snubbed by the Royal Family as they didn't extend their wishes on her birthday. The royals, who usually post birthday wishes for their family members, have not shared any messages or photos of Meghan on their official Twitter or Instagram accounts, Mirror noted.
The royal family used to openly celebrate Meghan's birthday in the past, even after she and Prince Harry retired from their roles as Royals in 2020. However, in contrast, Meghan Markel had a quiet celebration in a restaurant in California.
How old is Meghan Markle?
Queen Elizabeth took the initiative to wish her granddaughter-in-law a happy birthday by uploading a post on the Instagram and Twitter accounts of the Royal Family. She wrote, “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday.” In the picture, Meghan was seen smiling with the Queen during a royal outing. Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and King Charles and Camilla, the King, and Queen Consort, also sent their special birthday wishes to Meghan on social media. “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!”.
'Congratulations to the RHINO MAN team'
The royal Family, however, chose to ignore Meghan's birthday this year and instead pay attention to other issues. For instance, when the creators of the documentary 'Rhino Man' revealed they had been nominated for an award, William and Kate congratulated them on Twitter. The couple wrote: “Congratulations to the RHINO MAN team! Such an important story being told, great to see it being recognised.”
The royals' silence is concerning given the tense dynamic between Meghan and Harry and the rest of the family. The pair, who are currently residents of Montecito, California, spoke with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year and revealed a number of shocking claims regarding their time as royals. Additionally, they charged several family members with racism, abandonment, and financial severance. Prince Harry has made various claims about his family in his openly candid memoir Spare, including that he felt "trapped" in the royal system, was upset by his father's lack of empathy, and had a rupture with his brother and sister-in-law.
Meghan celebrated her birthday quietly with her husband
Despite the royal snub, Meghan celebrated her birthday quietly with her husband and a friend at a celebrity hotspot restaurant in Montecito. The couple was spotted leaving the Italian restaurant Tre Lune on Wednesday night, August 2, ahead of Meghan’s birthday. They were accompanied by their friend Matt Cohen, who is an actor and director, the Daily Mail reported. The restaurant as per Independent, serves starter courses from $15, with main courses including a seafood pasta dish for $48 and a fillet steak served on a bed of rocket salad for $65. The outing served as a pre-birthday celebration for Meghan.
