LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez wished Francia Raisa a happy birthday on Instagram as the latter turned 35. The post included a collection of photos, featuring the two posing together in front of a wall adorned with red roses, another in front of a white wall and a picture of them donning matching outfits.
Gomez's post read, "Happiest of birthdays to this special human being. No matter where life takes us, I love you. @franciaraisa." Earlier in 2023, speculation was rife about Gomez and Raisa's friendship when the latter reacted negatively to the former telling Rolling Stone that Taylor Swift was her "only friend" in the industry.
Are Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa friends?
Raisa is yet to respond to Gomez's post. However, she put up an Instagram post and wrote in the caption, “If I’m not in a bikini on my birthday then it’s not my birthday."
There were rumors that Gomez and Raisa were no longer friends in 2022. The situation gained attention when Gomez's documentary, 'My Mind and Me', released on Apple TV+. In the documentary, the Rare Beauty founder shed light on her struggles with mental illness, including a "psychotic break" that led to her hospitalization in 2018.
The documentary featured people from Gomez's inner circle, including Raquelle Stevens who was seen supporting and accompanying the singer on trips to Kenya and France, as well as helping her through challenging times. However, Raisa was inconspicuously absent from the 95-minute feature and this set many tongues wagging.
'My best friend, Her name is Francia'
During an episode of the Apple TV+ series 'Dear...', Gomez expressed her deep gratitude towards Raisa, stating that she was forever "in debt" to her. In the same episode, she referred to Raisa as her "best friend”.
"My best friend, Her name is Francia. She said, 'No, I am absolutely getting tested.' And within three days, she went to get tested, and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so, so, so lucky," Gomez said on the show.
"I understand that that doesn't happen for a lot of people, and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it's happened to me that way," Gomez further stated.
