LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Retta and Designer Alison Victoria are returning to give a complete makeover to some horrendous abodes in 'Ugliest House in America' Season 4. Retta goes cross-country to tour properties nominated by homeowners who believe their place is one of the worst in the country.
'Ugliest House in America' Season 4 will feature abodes with bad designs, poor functionality, and more, and the worst of them all will get a transformation that will turn the "beast into a beauty." That said, according to Retta, serious work needs serious cash and the buyers have to be prepared for that.
How much does the makeover of 'Ugliest House in America' cost?
Giving a makeover to any normal house could cost a hefty sum and if the abode falls into the 'ugly' category, the amount is bound to be higher. Some of the ugly houses featured in the show have to be entirely torn down. Retta shared in a recent interview, "There's just too much work to be done to get it aesthetically pleasing, to get it functional. Because a lot of times, you've got to move the piping."
Retta also noted that buyers better be prepared to shell out some serious cash, and some serious work, if they want the ultimate makeover. She will help one lucky homeowner with such a total transformation. With the tight budget, there will be a lot of things that factor into the design plans. At times, Alison might only be left with about $80,000 to do what she wants with the finishes. Besides, she has to pay for labor too. Re-imagining both the interior and exterior of the house means tackling paint, landscaping, and more, resulting in a total transformation, or as HGTV loves to call it, the ultimate before-and-after. The complete makeover of the 'Ugliest House in America' cost around $150,000.
Retta gives stunning makeover to 15 ugly houses
Millions have tuned in to see Retta's hilarious hot takes on more than 40 of the country's ugliest houses. With the popularity, the producers doubled the order of the houses to get even more great content. 'Ugliest House in America' Season 4 will see some rather freaky stuff, from a disjointed house built out of cylindrical towers to a home that's buried in angel decor. Additionally, Rette and Alison will also give a makeover to a sprawling party pad with funky decor, a tiny triangle house where the walls feel like they're closing in, a terrifying Mardi Gras-inspired house, and an Earth-home fit for a hobbit. Based on its ugly appearance, poor functionality and surprising design choices, one house will be deemed the 'Ugliest House in America'.
'Ugliest House in America' Season 4 premieres on Monday, August 7 at 8 pm ET on HGTV.
