LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s not just Jessica Simpson, who’s excited to make music again, but her children too can’t wait to see their mother step back into the arena.
The mother-of-three said on Friday, August 25, “I was too nervous to go back into other careers that are my passion until I felt like they were confident enough in school and life before I would step foot on stage.”
How many children does Jessica Simpson have?
During her career break, Simpson welcomed her three children, Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and four-year-old Birdie Mae.
The 43-year-old singer added, “It's crazy, the responsibility to feel as a parent, but really I look to them and they teach me so much. They're teaching me to be brave."
The ‘Irresistible’ crooner wants to resume doing what she was ‘born to do’ with her new support system in place.
“Now, at this point in my life, going back into music, it's very exciting,” the singer told People. “They know that I'm living my dream and that that's what I was born to do. And so to have them experience that with me is going to be really beautiful.”
Why did Simpson take a long break from music?
Jessica shared that “It was really just I wanted to be a mom first” but the singer felt that she “didn't want to miss the opportunity” and blame her children later.
“That's not healthy,” she said before adding “So they're like, 'Mom, just do it. We will come with you.'”
What was the reason behind her return?
Simpson revealed the reason she decided to make her musical return. “I have my daughter taking a private plane with North West to go see Katy Perry in Vegas. And inside I’m like, ‘She was supposed to see me first.’ Then I’m like, ‘This is not competitive, Jessica. Let your daughter enjoy Katy Perry,’” she told Bustle.
“But there’s moments that make me want to do it — for them to see that color of me," she added.
In the same interview, the star felt surprised that people still remember her and praise her works. "It boggles my mind that I’ve stayed relevant and that people are curious. Because I have not entertained. I have not entertained at all," she admitted.
Her career initially came into the limelight in 1999 with the debut album 'Sweet Kisses.' It featured a duet with her soon-to-be husband Nick Lachey.
