LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee was absent from the Monday broadcast of the show, leading to rumors that she might be quitting 'GMA.'
In her absence, the show did its best to bring in another meteorologist for the weather forecast segment. KABC meteorologist Leslie Lopez was chosen to fill in for Ginger Zee's role, and she later expressed gratitude to the network for the esteemed opportunity.
As for Zee, the rumors surrounding her departure from 'GMA' turned out to be untrue. The 42-year-old hostess had earlier tweeted that she was going on a much-deserved 'vacation' and had no plans of leaving 'GMA.'
Leslie Lopez fills in for meteorologist Ginger Zee on ‘GMA’
The August 21 (Monday) broadcast of the morning show was devoid of a few regular faces. Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and meteorologist Ginger Zee, all were missing from the studio desk.
If Robin was enjoying her bachelorette weekend, Michael was dropping off her daughter at college.
Zee, however, was nowhere to be found on the show, and a fill-in meteorologist, Leslie Lopez was there in her place.
Rebecca Jarvis, who was filling in for Michael Strahan, introduced Ginger’s temporary replacement. The anchor said: “We head over to Leslie Lopez, from our station KABC in Los Angeles. “She’s in for Ginger. Hello, Leslie! Welcome!”
Standing in front of the weather map in a bright pink dress, Leslie replied, “Thank you so much. It’s great to be here!” She later shared a photo from her time on the morning show and gushed about the opportunity and the woman she was filling in for.
Leslie wrote: “Good Morning America! I’m filling for the wonderful and stellar @ginger_zee on #GMA this morning.”
Ginger Zee strikes down rumors of quitting ‘GMA’
‘GMA’ didn’t share any information about Ginger’s absence but the rumors doing the round of her quitting the show were struck down by the Chief Meteorologist herself a while ago.
Zee tweeted that she was only taking time off for a few days and will be back soon.
She wrote, “Really looking forward to some time away next week. As a heads-up, last time I took a few days off everyone thought I died or left ABC, etc... I am just going to take vacation and time off social. Thank goodness.”
For now, Zee hasn’t shared any updates about her vacation on any social media platform but knowing the ‘GMA’ meteorologist, the fans can surely expect a few more updates from Zee about her vacation.
