NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Another media personality has come under fire for their "woke" ideology. Howard Stern recently addressed the people who have been attacking him for his political leanings and leftist takes on his Sirius XM segment.
Greg Gutfeld could not help but do a segment on his show about the Stern case as he went on to question the radio host's idea of "wokeism." Here, the late-night host compared being woke to a "toilet seat infection."
Howard Stern's row with Donald Trump over 'wokeism'
In a recent episode of 'The Howard Stern Show', the host confronted his listeners who have been criticizing him for going woke.
"I kind of take that as a compliment, that I’m woke," Stern said, as per Mediaite, "To me, the opposite of woke, is being asleep. And if woke means I can’t get behind Trump, which is what I think it means, or that I support people who want to be transgender or I’m for the vaccine, dude call me woke as you f**king want."
He had also gone on to add, "I am woke, motherf**ker, and I love it. I want to be awake. I want to read legitimate news sources. Here’s how woke I am. I believe the election was not rigged."
This was later even responded to by former president Donald Trump in a post that called Stern "weak, pathetic and disloyal."
"The real Howard Stern is a weak, pathetic, and disloyal guy, who lost his friends and MUCH of his audience," Trump wrote in his post, "Until just recently, I haven’t heard his name mentioned in years. I did his show many times in the good old days, and then he went Woke, and nobody cares about him any longer."
Trump and Stern had been on fairly good terms when the former president had gotten a chance to have multiple interviews with him.
"I don’t know what they (really!) pay him, but it shouldn’t be much. His influence is gone, and without that, he’s got NOTHING - Just a broken weirdo, unattractive both inside and out, trying like hell to be relevant!" Trump added.
Stern attracted the attention of many with his statement, including Fox News, which had several of its shows doing segments on his decision to "come out" as a proud woke American. Gutfeld's late-night show was one of them.
Greg Gutfeld calls 'wokeism' a contagion
Gutfeld went on to present a theory that "wokeism" spreads just like an infection does.
"Here's my theory: wokeism is a contagion," Gutfeld said, adding, "Stern got it from Jimmy Kimmel, his new best friend, and Kimmel got it from his wife. His wife got it from where you get all the infections: the toilet seat."
The host found Stern's understanding of being "woke" too "simplistic," which he discussed with his guests for the night.
Gutfeld also said that Stern "waited a long time" before making his political stance so publicly clear, suggesting that he became an "ultra-lib" after becoming rich. His criticism stemmed from the sudden change in his previous takes on political and social issues.
