LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ host Lara Spencer recently revealed her exciting new gig away from the morning show. The ‘Nightline’ and ‘ABC News’ correspondent seems to have recovered after she underwent foot surgery in January due to a torn plantar plate and ligament.
On Wednesday, July 5, Spencer opened up about the special assignment with co-host Robin Roberts. Both the anchors are all set to land in London to attend Wimbledon this weekend, Sunday, July 16.

Following her coverage of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, Spencer revealed that she and Roberts would be traveling to London to attend the matches over the weekend. The news anchor expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Robin and I are going!” She continued, “We land Sunday. We're hitting the ground running. We'll be there for GMA next week," as per The Sun.
Spencer and Roberts' showcased their love for tennis in recent months, sharing pictures on Instagram of their tennis lesson with retired pro, Rennae Stubbs. During the lesson, they sported short tennis skirts while Roberts' fiancee, Amber Laign, cheered her on from the stands with their dog, Lukas. This is not the first time Spencer has been involved in hosting major events, having previously hosted the Special Olympics in Berlin, Germany, and sharing memorable moments from the ceremony online.
Robin Robert’s summer vacation
During her summer break, Roberts has been enjoying quality time with her partner, Amber. She gave her followers an update on July 5, sharing a photo of Amber taking a midday swim in the pool. In the picture, Amber, wearing a floppy black hat with lime green monogramming, covered most of her face, revealing a bright smile peeking out from underneath. She stood in the crystal blue water, nearly fully submerged while resting her arms on a bright red pool float. Their adorable dog could be seen happily lying on the float as well, adding to the peaceful and joyful scene. The snapshot captured a serene moment of relaxation and enjoyment during Roberts and Laign's summer together.
In January, Roberts made an exciting announcement on the show, revealing her plans to marry her partner, Laign, in 2023. Expressing her hesitation and excitement, Roberts shared, "I'm hesitating because I haven't said it out loud yet. I'm saying yes to marriage. We're getting married this year." The couple previously discussed marriage but had put their plans on hold due to Laign's illness. Roberts emphasized that this decision symbolized embracing the next chapter of their lives together. The couple have been a source of support for each other, having both faced battles with breast cancer. They first met in 2015 and chose to keep their relationship private until they went public in 2013.
