NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The ‘Good Morning America’ meteorologist Ginger Zee was nowhere to be found for the morning weather report on Friday. The show host was replaced by Sam Champion, who was the weather reporter before Zee came on board.
Zee missed the morning show because of other engagements the evening before. She took part in a prestigious fundraiser for which she was also the keynote speaker. Along with that, she also attended a festival after taking a much-needed rest from work.
Ginger Zee on mental health of others and her own
Zee has always been vocal about social issues that concern us today. By becoming a part of this fundraiser, the meteorologist added mental health to the list of things she has expressed views on and considers really important.
The fundraiser was organized by the not-for-profit community Center for Life Management which helps thousands of people with access to mental health services. Ginger Zee has previously taken up initiatives that not only spread awareness about the importance of mental health but also raise money for the welfare of others.
Zee opened up about her own struggles during the keynote address at the fundraiser as well. She talked about the progress people have made in terms of normalizing mental health issues. She said, “I think that people openly say now, 'I have depression. I have anxiety. I go to therapy.' That's much better than where we were.” The meteorologist has written two books based on her issues with eating disorders, depression, and abusive relationships.
Zee’s visit to the Tribeca Film Festival
The next day, after a much-needed break, Zee was able to attend the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday night. She moderated a panel for the show ‘Outlander’ for the premiere of its seventh season with Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, Sam Heughan, and Caitríona Balfe.
In the end, it all worked out for everyone as Champion’s appearance on the morning show was loved by his fans. The former weather reporter of GMA has been on a hiatus from TV for a while and is instead traveling with his partner.
