LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood is entering a new era! The ‘Barbie’ makers, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who are awaiting their film’s release on July 20, are celebrating not only the release of their film but also giving shoutouts to the three other big releases this summer - 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One,' 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' and 'Oppenheimer'. Tom Cruise started the trend by promoting other films apart from his own much anticipated ‘MI:7’.
‘Barbie’ director Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie joined the trend when they posted photos of themselves holding tickets of the Cruise-starrer ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One’, James Mangold-directed ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ starring Harrison Ford, and, last but not the least, Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’. The duo posted the three photos with a simple caption, “Mission: Accepted!” Quite naturally, fans loved the idea and showed their love through the social media posts.
'Just a few that we can’t wait to see on the big screen'
Earlier, the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star, while promoting his own big budget action flick, also urged the moviegoers to equally love the three other summer releases and watch the movies in theaters. Tom Cruise similarly shared the photos of himself with the tickets of the three movies. He also gave a shout out to the films in a long post which accompanied the photos. He started the post while saying, “This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters. These are just a few that we can’t wait to see on the big screen.”
Congratulating Harrison Ford on successfully completing 40 years of Indiana Jones, he wrote, “Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indiana Jones and creating one of the most iconic characters in cinema history. You have given us countless hours of joy.” The ‘Knight and Day’ star then gave shoutouts to the two other films by saying, “I love a double feature, and it doesn’t get more explosive (or more pink) than one with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.”
'This is really lovely to see'
"We love barbenheimer," commented an ecstatic fan. Another fan shared a photo with Tom Cruise with the caption, "Ethan barbie hunt." Another fan shared the photos and commented, "This is really lovely to see."
While another fan stannned the Margot Robbie-starrer saying, "Barbie will crush them all. #BarbieTheMovie will be the Batman of 2023 (as in will be the best movie of this year)." A social media user did not forget to thank Tom Cruise for the sweet gesture, "Thank you tom cruise." Another netizen welcomed the move wholeheartedly, saying, "I love how these movies are supporting each other. So matured and beautiful."
"Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy, you know what to do," an expectant fan said. Another described, "Christopher, Cillian, I know you either don’t have internet or barely get out of the house, or both…but come on let’s do it!!!"
