LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Dancing With The Stars' pros and real life couple, Peta Murgatroyd and her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, recently announced that they have become parents for the second time on Instagram. Chmerkovskiy shared a video of Murgatroyd resting in a hospital bed, prepared to greet their sweet baby. The couple's love and excitement were evident as they begin this new chapter of their life.
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy, who tied the knot in 2017, have a son, six-year-old Shai. Their journey to growing their family, however, was not smooth. Murgatroyd admitted in 2022 that she had three miscarriages before announcing her second pregnancy.
'It's traumatizing'
"It’s traumatizing, and he’s [Chmerkovskiy] the one that’s closest to me," Murgatroyd reportedly told Us Magazine, while speaking about her miscarriages. She continued, "So, he goes through it as much as I go through it, so to speak. It did bring us closer together. When you go through something like that, it’s just an ultimate bonding session. … When you come to those crossroads and those big decisions, making them together and moving forward together as a family unit is so important, and I feel like we did that."
Since then, the couple has been open about their infertility issues as they go through IVF. "I’ve had actually no, like, really close friends of me do [IVF] before either, so I haven’t been privy to the process. But I’m very hopeful," Murgatroyd said, adding, "I really want a girl … and [Maks is] very much just wanting that bond with one baby [as opposed to twins]. I think we’re both nervous about trying to balance two, with how to kind of share the love and be there for each baby."
'Happy Father's Day to me!'
The couple is on euphoric as they had the baby just in time for Father's Day. Chmerkovskiy posted a sweet snapshot of the baby in his arms on Instagram to mark the birth of their son. He wrote, "Happy Father's Day to me! #MadeInPeta." He also provided a sneak peek of their trip to the hospital on his Instagram stories before the baby was born. As the couple got ready for the arrival of their baby, the video showed them having fun together. Murgatroyd joked with her husband and made a cheeky motion to show that it had been a difficult night.
'Let's get that baby!'
Murgatroyd announced to her followers, "We're having a baby." She also jokingly alluded to the challenges they encountered en route to the hospital, thanking their supporters who had anticipated their arrival. The video ended with Chmerkovskiy stating, "We're here. Let's get that baby!" He shared his respect for his wife. He explained the devotion it required to get to Los Angeles in a hurry with the help of their family's support and shared a moving photo of them holding hands at the hospital. "The fantastic unicorn that she is and I can’t wait for another one of her best creations!" he wrote in the post.
