LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Speculations are rife that Meghan Markle may have a secret Instagram account. While no post has been made through the account, if sources are to be believed, Prince Harry’s wife may possess a personal Instagram account.
Before marrying into the royal family, Meghan was a prominent face in Hollywood through her portrayal of Rachel Zane in the immensely popular drama ‘Suits’. However, as a part of the “adjustments” she had to do after her marriage and subsequent relocation to London, Markle had to let go of her social media presence. In an interview with The Cut, she told, “It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life.”
Does Meghan Markle have a secret Instagram account?
As per Page Six, an insider close to the Sussexes revealed that the duchess will soon be making her online presence felt. The source told the news outlet that Meghan allegedly has an Instagram handle called @meghan. While no post has been made through the Instagram account, it has already garnered over 31k followers. Meghan created the Instagram account just before the launch of her now-defunct Spotify podcast ‘Archetypes’ in August 2022. The profile picture is an image of pink flowers.
The source allegedly told Page Six, “Meghan was set to go live on Insta, but changed her mind shortly before she launched her “Archetypes” podcast, so it’s just sitting there now.” Another source added, “Meghan really did want to get back on Instagram.”
She hinted her Instagram comeback in her interview with The Cut in August 2022, when she told Allison P Davis, “Do you want to know a secret?” before adding, “I’m getting back…on Instagram.”
Did Meghan Markle ever have an Instagram account?
Before her royal wedding with Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan used to have a formidable presence on the social media space. During her time in the series ‘Suits’, Meghan posted several behind-the-scenes images from the series. She also ran a lifestyle blog called ‘The Tig’ where she used to upload content on fashion, lifestyle, and travel among others.
However, after her marriage, she became a part of the @KensingtonRoyal channel on Instagram, which she shared with her husband Harry, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate. Amidst the growing tension in the British royal family, the Sussexes launched their own Instagram account, @sussexroyal in April 2019. However, it was also made defunct after the Sussexes’s relocation to North America.
