LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ star Lara Spencer seems to have found a new taste for adventure. The 54-year-old left her fans and followers in complete disbelief when she recently posted a short clip in which she and one of her friends, Ally, can be seen on a boat preparing for an experience.
To the surprise of many, Lara revealed that she would be sailing for the first time and embarking on a brand new journey. This was a completely new experience for the 'GMA' host, who usually divides her time between the studio, playing tennis and her family. However, the new sailing hobby seemed to get in the way of work, as Lara was absent from Tuesday morning's (August 1) broadcast of 'GMA.'
Did Lara Spencer's ‘sailing session’ interrupt her work at ‘GMA’?
Lara is one of the four certified and anointed morning show hosts. Unless they are reporting on an assignment for the show, the hosts are usually present in the studio. However, their absence is often questioned by viewers, as was the case recently when Michael Strahan was absent for nearly two weeks, leaving fans up in arms about his whereabouts. But fans now have a reason for Lara’s absence from Tuesday morning's show.
The ‘GMA’ host’s Instagram video about her first sailing session seems to have caught up and interrupted her duties as one of the anchors of the morning show. Although it’s not entirely clear that Lara’s absence can be attributed to her recent outing to try a new hobby one of the fans in the comment section of the video taunted Lara and stated, “Good excuse for being late to work at GMA tomorrow.”
‘We’re cruising right along’
Lara was quick to address her excitement and exhilaration in the video and stated, “Ally and I are on our first sailing lesson, and as you can see that we’re cruising right along.” She later elaborated on her experience in the caption and said, “Hey Sailor! What an exhilarating feeling learning something brand new at the age of 54. Doesn't matter the outcome (there was zero wind lol), but we got out there, we learned how to rig our own boat, we were passed by a paddle boarder, and we will definitely do it again!!! Thanks to my dear friend Ally for pushing me to take the plunge! (Pun intended:)”
Fans acknowledge Lara’s new hobby as one of them commented, “Whatta wild ride” while another stated, “Hey Ally and Lara show the coach that you can get it done / Sail on by Lionel Richie.” A third mentioned, “Watch out RYC club sailing champs” while a fourth missed Lara on the morning show. “Always having great fun. Missed seeing you on Adopt a dog day on GMA.”
