MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Christine Baumgartner is leaving Kevin Costner's house as she was seen running errands while trucks left the $145 million Santa Barbara property on Friday, July 28. The marital woes of the duo have topped the headlines since she filed for divorce from the actor to end 18 years of their marriage.
Baumgartner was legally required to leave the house shared with her estranged husband and their children. A source close to the situation told People that "Christine is following the legal advice per the prenup and is vacating the family house," and added that she "will stay at a smaller house on the property that’s been used as a staff quarter."
Baumgartner is 'still looking for another house'
Explaining the handbag designer's future plans, the source said, "This is a temporary solution. She is still looking for another house. She is staying in the area to not disrupt the kids’ lives. They will be back at school in the fall with their friends," and added, "Christine is trying to keep everything as normal as possible. Her sole focus is the kids."
A judge previously ruled her to move out of the Montecito home by Monday, July 31. Amid their nasty divorce proceedings, Baumgartner requested the court to have until August 31 to relocate if an agreement on child support is done. However, Costner requested for his estranged wife to vacate by July 13. According to court documents, Judge Thomas Anderele ruled on July 5 that Baumgartner would have to vacate the home by the end of July. A source said that Costner "was relieved" to learn the ruling.
Baumgartner allegedly made 'baseless arguments' to continue her stay
Despite filing for divorce on May 1 and the former couple's prenuptial agreement signed before their 2004 marriage requiring her to leave the house within 30 days, Baumgartner continued to stay on the property.
As per the court documents filed on June 30, Costner's legal side claimed his estranged wife "grasps at straws with one baseless argument after another," on why she should not be vacated from the house.
Costner and Baumgartner's dispute over child support
The exes who share three children, Cayden Wyatt Costner, 16, Hayes Logan Costner, 14, and Grace Avery Costner, 13, had a long dispute over child support. Costner who previously opposed Baumgartner's demand of $248k per month is now required to pay $129,755 per month for child support.
