LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Charlie Sheen believes his HIV medication has left him with memory loss and mood swings. Admitting that he is battling "borderline dementia," the 57-year-old told his friends that the side effects of the powerful drug have made him struggle with even simple tasks.
Sheen previously revealed that the medications "kept me suppressed and alive, but I struggled with a constant migraine and, at times, borderline dementia." The 'Two and a Half Men' actor said that following the intake of the experimental medication called PRO 140, he is feeling much better.
'He has caused untold damage to himself'
Sheen who is known to be a legendary party animal spent years of his life on drugs, booze, sex, and hookers. Talking about his present condition, New York internist Dr Stuart Fischer said, "The symptoms of dementia may not be an outgrowth of his medications alone. You cannot discount the years of drugs and alcohol abuse along with dangerous sexual promiscuity," according to Radar Online.
Following his crack cocaine abuse, Sheen entered rehab and also admitted that even when he knew he was HIV-positive, he had unprotected sex. "He has caused untold damage to himself. Hopefully, his brain function can be restored, but after a lifetime of self-destructive behavior, it may be too late to head off possible long-term effects," stated Fischer.
Sheen is trying to make things right with his family
According to sources, the actor is trying to make things right with his family whom he believes he hurt with his wild behaviour within the time he has left. The people he hurt include his daughter Cassandra, 38, with his former high school sweetheart Paula Profit and Lola, 18, and OnlyFans star Sami, 19, with ex-wife and actress Denise Richards.
"Charlie knows he's not the only person he's damaged and he's desperately hoping his medical care and lifestyle changes will give him time to work his way back into their hearts," a source spilled. However, Fischer has warned that there are no guarantees in Sheen's health condition. "Charlie's experience should serve as a warning that following in his wayward tracks can literally destroy your mind and body — possibly permanently," said Fischer.
The update on his worsening health issues comes after he reportedly went "ballistic" over his 19-year-old daughter Sami recently joining OnlyFans and her content on the controversial subscription service. The actor blamed Denise for their daughter's decision.
