LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'The View' seem to be experiencing a heightened level of fear. Currently, supporters of the popular talk show, featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, are under the assumption that the hosts are on the verge of quitting the show due to the actors' strike in support of the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) battle with the studios.
However, it's not yet confirmed, and the fans are skeptical and uncertain about whether the hosts will suddenly quit or not. This fear intensified after a pre-recorded episode of 'The View' recently aired, giving rise to numerous speculations.
The SAG-AFTRA strike might be the reason behind ‘The View’s’ hosts' absence
The July 14 episode of 'The View' was pre-recorded, with Joy, Sara, Ana, Sunny, and Alyssa hosting a Day of Hot Topics. Whoopi, as usual, was absent on Fridays. However, there has been no announcement or official statement from the producers of 'The View' regarding whether the hosts are planning to walk out or if they are affiliated with the SAG-AFTRA union. The live shows are expected to resume in the following week, which will provide clarity for the fans. In a display of solidarity with the writers' ongoing battle for better wages and remuneration against the studios in Hollywood, TV, and film actors have joined the writers on the picket lines. Given that 'The View' has been running without writers since May 2023, it is likely that the talk show hosts will also support the writers in their cause.
A few fans on Twitter came alive when the pre-recorded episode aired. They had their doubts and inquired about the absence of all the hosts, wondering if they will see them again next week. "Is this a regular slump Friday? #TheView Or a post-Sag Friday? #Hottopic." Another fan replied, "I think the episodes seen Friday are taped in advance (on Wednesday?) We may not see what happens until Monday.” There was an air of mystery surrounding the hosts' absence which if fans are to be believed will not be resolved until next week.
‘The View’ episode was interrupted by a ‘Serial Killer’ breaking news
The pre-recorded episode also sparked anger among the fans due to a piece of news that didn't sit well with them. Approximately 12 minutes into the episode, breaking news about the arrest of a suspected Long Island Serial Killer named Rex Heuermann, who allegedly killed up to 10 sex workers and disposed of their bodies near Gilgo Beach, New York, starting in 2010, was displayed on the television screens. Fans of 'The View' were furious and suggested that the show was attempting to "sensationalize" an old case for no apparent reason.
