LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have parted ways years ago but the now-former couple were once madly in love. Nearly two years after they allegedly began dating in 2005, Jolie appeared in the 2007 computer-animated fantasy action film, 'Beowulf.'
Reports suggests that ahead of the release of the film, Jolie warned Pitt as well as her family about her nude scene in the movie, which reportedly even caught her off guard. Pitt and Jolie got engaged in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. However, Jolie filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." The pair got embroiled in a messy custody battle after their divorce and is currently engaged in a legal fight over the stakes of their Chateaur Miraval French winery.
'I was really surprised'
While Jolie have spent years performing challenging roles, it was a nude scene in 'Beowulf' that prompted the actress to warn her then-partner Pitt and her family members. Jolie reportedly felt "weird" and "got a little shy" when she realized she not only had to voice out her character in the animated film but also act out the scenes physically with dots on her face and wearing costume resembling a wet suit, as per The Morning Call.
“There were certain moments where I actually called home just to explain that the fun movie that I had done that was digital animation was, in fact, a little different than we expected. I was really surprised that I felt that exposed,” the actress reportedly told the publication.
"But what it really does is strip everything down to the essentials of performing, especially in the scenes between Crispin and me. They were just pure amazing emotion,” she added while explaining her role and the filmmaking process.
What role did Angelina Jolie play in 'Beowulf?'
Jolie said she wanted to work with 'Beowulf' creator Robert Zemeckis and took on the role of a reptilian creature for the animated film based on the Old English poem of the same name. In the movie, she played a shape-shifting lizard who destroyed men after luring them by preying on their weaknesses. Her character was also the mother of deadly beast Grendel (Crispin Glover).
"I was excited to get a call saying that I was going to be working with Bob Zemeckis. And then I was told I was going to be a lizard. He showed me this picture of a woman half-painted in gold (and) then a lizard. I have kids, so I thought, that's great. It's so bizarre. I'm going to be this crazy reptilian creature," Jolie said as per VC Star.
