CHATEAU MIRAVAL, FRANCE: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently in the middle of a messy legal battle over the stakes of their Chateau Miraval winery but the duo was once one of Hollywood's most prominent power couples. Lovingly dubbed together as “Brangelina,” the pair got engaged in 2012 after seven years of dating. They legally married in Los Angeles on August 14, 2014, before having a private ceremony at Chateau Miraval on August 23, 2014. Ahead of their wedding, several media reports claimed that Jolie allegedly banned Pitt’s industry friends Quentin Tarantino and Jonah Hill from attending the ceremony as she wanted to avoid guests who were likely to drink heavily at the event.
Pitt and Jolie eventually tied the knot in an intimate ceremony that had a little over 20 guests. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 and the split was finalized in 2019. They had a tense custody battle over their six children and are currently embroiled in a legal fight over their French winery stakes. Pitt accused Jolie of illegally selling her shares from the winery despite an agreement in place that stipulates they can't sell their respective shares without each other’s approval. The ‘Fight Club’ star filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife in February 2022 alleging Jolie made the decision to sell 50 percent of her share to Yuri Shefler “vindictively” and without giving him the chance to match or outbid her offer.
‘Angelina wants the whole affair to be very civilized’
Prior to her wedding with Pitt, multiple media sources claimed that the ‘Maleficent’ star banned some of Pitt’s friends, including Tarantino, Hill, and even George Clooney, from the guest list. “Angelina wants the whole affair to be very civilized and is concerned about the habits of some of Brad's more raucous friends,” a source told The Sun at the time, according to Digital Spy.
“She thinks that if Jonah and Quentin come, they'll hit the bar early on and cause a commotion,” the source alleged at the time. While Jolie or Pitt never addressed or clarified the rumors, no celebrity from Hollywood or otherwise was invited to their wedding, which was a highly private and intimate affair.
Who made it to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s wedding?
Pitt and Jolie said “I do” at the chapel of Chateau Miraval in the French village of Correns. An insider later revealed that the ceremony was only attended by a total of 20 family members and close friends, including the couple’s six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. “The only guests were Brad‘s family from the states,” a source told E! News at the time.
“His mom and dad, Bill and Jane Pitt; his brother, Doug; sister Julie; and their kids, so it was no more than 22 people in total,” the insider added. Jolie’s father Jon Voight did not join the celebration even though he was invited to the special event.
