CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: During his guest co-hosting stint on 'Live with Kelly and Mark', Andy Cohen sparked a captivating conversation by seeking parenting advice from fellow father Mark Consuelos. With candid curiosity, Cohen questioned whether it would be considered "weird" for him to continue taking baths with his one-year-old daughter, Lucy Eve Cohan, even though he had done so in the past with his older son, Ben, when he was a baby.
Since Consuelos shares 22-year-old Lola, as well as sons, Michael, 26, and Joaquin, 20, with his longtime wife and co-host Kelly Ripa, it seemed a fair idea to ask him about parental advice. This intriguing inquiry delved into the realm of parental boundaries and sparked a lively exchange on the show. Since Cohen is a new father to Lucy, his worries about being exposed in front of the toddler also surfaced, while Consuelos offered him some genuine advice.
Andy Cohen asks if it's 'weird' to take baths with his daughter
During a conversation with Consuelos, Cohen raised a peculiar question about bathing with his daughter, wondering if it was acceptable as he said, "I have a daughter. What is the protocol there? Because I'm a little bit of a nudie and I feel like I need to start locking it up."
When discussing whether it is okay to bathe with their children, Consuelos suggested that once children start speaking, it's best to avoid being naked in front of them intentionally as
the conversation moved forward. "I think the rule of thumb was when they start speaking. When they start saying words," he advised. "So there will be no bath time for me and my daughter," adding more to the conversation the Bravo host said, "That's weird, right?"
Mark couldn't decide on "what's weird and what's not weird," but Cohen was quick to catch his look and said, "Okay, your eyes are telling me that's weird. That's all I need to know," said Cohen. "I just need to know the protocol!" Consuelos' reply served as confirmation of Cohen's uneasy intuition that it would be viewed as odd. Additionally, he inquired as to when a parent should stop bathing their child, which prompted Consuelos to quip that it should have stopped two years prior. In the end, Consuelos was looking for clarification on these issues of parenting protocol.
Andy Cohen's daughter was NY's first child born via gestational surrogacy
Cohen, the host of 'Watch What Happens Live', revealed that his 1-year-old daughter, Lucy, was one of the first children born via gestational surrogacy in New York. The state legalized the practice in February 2021, and Cohen played a role in getting the law passed. He expressed his desire for his surrogate to give birth in New York, which resulted in a three-year age gap between Lucy and his son Benjamin, who was also born via surrogate. Cohen became a father of two in April 2022 and has been candid about his experience in his book, 'The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up'.
