LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the first episode of ‘And Just Like That’ Season 2, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) struggled with her dating life while Charlotte and Miranda were riled up in their own relationships. In the second episode of season 2, Carrie struggles with writing a podcast ad script which will eventually lead to an overwhelming yet dangerous set of outcomes for Carrie.
‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 Episode 2 opens with Carrie successfully executing her podcast with producer and sex-escapade buddy Franklyn. However, when she reads about the ‘vaginal ad’ that she had to talk about it publicly, as she felt reluctant and uneasy. In the episode, Carrie struggled with finding the right pitch for the ad, and unfortunately, ends up losing her job, the future of her ‘Sex and the City’ book, and Thursday’s sex with Franklyn. Despite the mixed reviews of the episode, the show has generated a cultural conversation, with fans eagerly anticipating what's in store for the rest of the season.
Carrie’s reluctance to ‘vaginal’ ad
When Carrie was asked to sponsor a vaginal company product, she thought that it is hard to stomach the itchy words and insists on re-writing the copy. Carrie found the term "suppository," a little too harsh and showed reluctance to do the podcast. While Franklyn agreed with her, he assured her that he’ll talk to Chloe. However, Carrie and Franklyn were tasked to re-write the copy which literally wasted their time and it was a complete misuse of their talents. When Franklyn couldn’t match up a perfect copy to Carrie’s standards, she takes it upon herself and reached out to multiple sources to inquire about alternative words for "vagina”.
The whole situation that unfolds around this particular plot point is truly ridiculous. It's actually quite fitting for Carrie's podcast to have a sponsorship deal with a vaginal wellness company. The fact that she is so bothered by the subject matter and finds it difficult to discuss such matters is absurd. Instead of simply asking someone from the marketing team to find a more modern term for ‘suppository’, they end up taking matters into their own hands. While Franklyn feels the need to download Final Draft software just to improve a few lines of text that could have easily been edited on a napkin.
Carrie’s freed-up entire week
After Carrie reworked the final ‘vaginal ad’ copy, she and Franklyn were stunned by an unexpected revelation. Carrie's adamant refusal to read the copy becomes the final catalyst that leads to the downfall of the entire podcast empire. With that one failed ad, the company crumbles, bringing an end to the ‘Sex and the City’ podcast. Also, the Thursday night sessions with Franklyn also come to an end.
Interestingly, this turn of events may actually be a positive outcome for us as viewers. Carrie now finds herself with a clean slate, both personally and professionally. She no longer has a job or a significant other, but she has financial stability and the freedom to pursue whatever she desires. It's thrilling to contemplate where this newfound freedom might take her, especially without the possibility of returning to her late husband, Mr Big (Chris Noth). This is particularly exciting for those who have always rooted for Aidan, hoping to see him back in the picture.
