LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amanda Bynes, who checked out of a mental health facility after being placed on psychiatric hold for two weeks, has her inner circle fear the worst. Sources close to her worry that her parents could reinstate her conservatorship.
The troubled star was first under psychiatric care in March after she was found wandering naked around the streets of Los Angeles. "She skips her meds or stops taking them entirely then falls off the deep end. Her friends fear this will keep happening unless she gets some long-term treatment for her mental illness," said the source, as reported by OK Magazine.
Bynes' conservatorship since 2013
Bynes' was allowed to make decisions for herself after her conservatorship, which spanned nine years, ended in 2022. Before her bipolar episodes, the actress was doing considerably well and her parents Lynn and Rick Bynes did not try to set up another conservatorship. "Amanda appreciates the love and support of her fans during this time. She thanks her family for never giving up. Now that the conservatorship has ended, she looks forward to completing her bachelor’s degree and living her life," said her attorney David A Esquibias when the legal bind ended.
However, her inner circle who found her willingness to seek help by turning herself over to the police for a medical evaluation as a positive effort, worries that Bynes' parents may have to step in again. "They don’t want to reinstate the conservatorship, but they might need to. People around Amanda fear the worst," said the source.
Bynes' 'looked defeated' when cops dealt with her
After the end of her eight-year conservatorship, the Nickelodeon alum who struggled with bipolar disorder and substance abuse, has been taking her medication on and off. On June 17, Bynes was taken for a psychological evaluation after she was taken to the police station by the Los Angeles Police.
The law enforcement force stated that they received a call about a distressed female individual. After they arrived at the scene, the police identified her as Bynes who was then taken to the police station.
A source shared that the 37-year-old star was "calm during the interaction with cops" and "looked defeated as they dealt with her." She then remained in a 5150 psychiatric hold while medical professionals who treated her worked to get her stabilized. An insider close to the situation said that Bynes has never had a stable relationship with her medication as she has the tendency to stop the intake of her medicines once she starts feeling better.
