PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Viewers appear to desire to be able to appreciate a performance in the same manner as individuals in the live audience do, but instead they complain about a frenzied show of camera cuts. It's as if the director informed his camera team that they couldn't hold a shot for longer than 2 seconds. Fans of 'America's Got Talent' flocked to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the audience's reaction. Following the bad camera work on the most recent episode, which aired on August 8, fans questioned the producers about whether they glance around at other people in the crowd to see what they're doing when they go to attend a performance.
On August 8, 'AGT' continued season 18 with the last two-hour showcase of first-round performances in "Auditions 9." The judges' table remains unchanged this summer, with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their places at the ends of the table. Heidi Klum also returns, as does Sofia Vergara, who was absent when 'All-Stars' aired earlier this year. Terry Crews takes up hosting responsibilities once more.
Fans slam ‘annoying’ camera work
'AGT' viewers have blasted the program for its obnoxious new look. With the changes, fans believe the talent show will lose viewers. 'AGT' returned on Tuesday with the final audition, and viewers pointed out a recent tweak that irritates them.
Following the conclusion of Tuesday night's program, a fan rushed to social media to complain about how much the camera hops about in each episode.
'AGT' viewers have expressed their displeasure with a certain aspect of the show. In a conversation regarding the most recent round of auditions for 'AGT,' viewers voiced their opinions about the studio audience. Typically, the camera travels back and forth between the stage, the judges (Simon, Sophia, Heidi, and Howie), and the crowd on the competition TV show. However, many at home were dissatisfied with how similar the audience's reactions looked and rushed to social media to vent.

On Twitter, a viewer complained, "The camera work for dance acts is terrible. Respectfully, stay on the frickin' wide shot so we can see the act!" Another person chimed in, "#AGT is horrible at filming contemporary dancers. Stop doing slo mo, zoom out and stop changing cameras." Reacting to CHIBI UNITY's audition, one person tweeted, "Good act, terrible camerawork! Stay on the wide shots and solo section. Bouncing from audience and judge reaction detracts from tv audience experience." A fourth user tweeted, "Great act, poor direction by AGT directors, too many cuts, camera angles either too close up or like this screenshot so zoomed out you can't even see the performers."
One Twitter user wrote, "I guess it was worthy of the golden buzzer. Didn’t get to see it all cuz of the bad camera work the TV audience wants to see what the live audience sees..without the cuts. So frustrating." Another person complained, "It’s amazing how much the TV audience misses because of the camera work done on AGT. The camera cuts to the audience and holds the shot on someone way too long. We miss so much. ITS DISTURBING."
On Reddit, one fan also wrote, "As attractive they are, it was meh for me. I do put a bit of blame on the constant camera angle changes."
