PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: This week on 'America's Got Talent', audiences got to watch another aspiring vocalist, Cakra Khan, from Indonesia. He came on stage to sing 'Make It Rain' and he stated beforehand that he had a strong interest in blues. When fans hear someone say that in 2023, they're going to be intrigued.
Fans are highly convinced of Cakra's potential after hearing him play. However, for some reason, Simon Cowell interrupted him to state that he didn't enjoy the song, which offended the viewers.
Simon Cowell interrupts Cakra Khan mid-audition
While Cakra calmed himself down by eating hot food before his audition, Simon brought back his nerves. His vocal version of 'Make It Rain' did not sit well with Simon, so he interrupted him mid-song to suggest that he try something new. Heidi Klum stated he has a distinctive and sensual voice that sticks out with his second song, 'No Woman, No Cry'. Simon termed his voice "rare" and felt the second song made him seem like more of an artist, while Sofia Vergara called the performance exceptional. Howie Mandel stated that he believed everyone in the room could sense his emotion. Cakra advanced with four "yes" votes going down the line from Howie to Simon. However, fans were still upset over Simon's behavior.
'Simon stopping him halfway really was unnecessary'
On Twitter, viewers complained about the interruption, as one wrote, "There was nothing wrong with that first song; I don't like it when Simon does that." Another fan said, "Simon cutting him off during an Ed Sheeran song, I for one think the song is underrated…not simon." One user wrote, "Cowell is an IDIOT, Make it Rain is a brilliant song!" A fourth user tweeted, " I guess I’m one of the people never find anything wrong with the songs Simon doesn’t like."
One user also tweeted, "Simon stopping him halfway really was unnecessary. He's got a great voice regardless." Another person chimed in with a meme GIF, seemingly suggesting that the show is staged, stating, "Simon “do you have another song” Contestant, surprisingly “yes”. And the track is racked and ready to go…" One person complained, "Why didnt one of the judges come up and buzzed simon’s buzzer or something ?? or maybe one of the audience to jump off their seat and buzzed … that would’ve been interesting." Another person wrote, "Simon has issues, he sounded fine."
