LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A day after being spotted dancing with two butcher knives in her hands in a video, Britney Spears appeared in an Instagram video on Tuesday, September 26, with a bandage on her arm and perhaps some cuts on her body.
The 41-year-old Grammy-winning singer, who previously uploaded a video of herself dancing while brandishing knives she insisted were fake, donned an orange crop top with white polka dots, white bikini bottoms, and white boots.
She captioned the video of the dancing, "My ‘Pretty Woman’ top … kinda cool after my briefing on polka dots ???????? !!!! Swipe to see both !!!"
Spears appeared dancing in a dizzying display of impromptu choreography for her 42.1 million Instagram followers in the first video, captured in the foyer of her house in Southern California.
The 'Oops!... I Did It Again' diva danced to the 1990 Enigma song 'Sadeness' (Part I) while sporting a white bandage on her wrist and what looked to be a wound on the front of her right leg in the second video.
The video was posted only a few hours after Spears' now-famous knife video. She captioned the post: "I started playing in the kitchen with knives today ??♀️??♀️??♀️ !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon ??? !!!"
Even though she insisted they weren't real, the viral video had many people assume they were real because of the metallic sound they produced when she joined them together.
Concerned online fans react to Britney's appearance with arm bandage
Online fans of the 'Baby One More Time' crooner immediately took to social media to express their concern over the singer's appearance with an arm bandage and cuts in her thighs.
One concerned fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Hope you're feeling better soon, Britney! Keep dancing and spreading the positive vibes!
"I hope she’s okey, them knives were deff real," hoped another user.
Another X user noted, "She is going to end up hurting herself or others and the Free Britney chanters will pretend they weren’t involved. This is inevitable."
Someone compared Spears' act with that of Shakira's VMAs performance and wrote, "Ik after Shakiras VMA performance Britney might do this."
"Don’t judge those in crisis…it‘s not entertainment," exclaimed another concerned fan.
Another compared it to Jamie Lynn's performance in 'DWTS' and explained, "She may feel some type of trigger with Dancing with the Stars premiering tonight and there is so more attention right now on her sister and people assuming how Britney feels about this."
"Why can’t anyone help her? Anyone? Where’s her family? Her friends? Doctors? Help her!" exclaimed another worried fan.
One more wrote, "Her fan's are encouraging her and that does not help. Brittany need's serious help!!!"
"No idea about the white bandage but her leg and hip are bruises, not cuts," noted another one.
"It's not even just her dancing with knives. She just doesn't look well as she's dancing. Like she's finding an excuse to hurt herself," chimed in another X user.
Britney Spears has longtime 'fascination with knives'
The bizarre footage was released just months after TMZ founder, Harvey Levin, alleged that Spears became fixated on knives and viewed them "as a means of protection" as a result of the "trauma" of her horrific 13-year conservatorship.
According to Levin, the 'Gimme More' singer has always had a "fascination with knives" and also sleeps with them under her bed, as was revealed in the documentary 'Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom' in May, per Page Six.
In the documentary, Levin alleged that Spears "lives in mortal fear" of a stranger breaking into her house in the middle of the night, and "strap her to a gurney and take her to a psych ward."
The publication went one step further, advising Sam Asghari, Spears' now-divorced husband, to "be afraid to sleep without one eye open if she gets pissed" since she is apparently "super capable" of injuring him.
A "constant fear of being re-institutionalized" is claimed to plague the singer, who made her bipolar disorder diagnosis public in 2021.
As per Daily Mail, Spears' younger sister — Jamie Lynn Spears — alleged in her tell-all book published in 2022, that her older sibling had once trapped them both in a room while holding a knife.
Jamie Lynn defended her decision to relate the narrative after the publication of her book, stating that it is "not about her" sister.
